Case CLC Families,

As we are halfway through the first marking period, we wanted to give you a number of updates and reminders along with your student’s Interim Progress Report.  First, let us explain the report itself. As you can see, there are not grades for Health, Social Studies, and Science; while our teachers are continuing to embed this instruction through Math and Language Arts and in discussions dealing with our International Baccalaureate program, the district made the decision to not issue these grades during the first quarter.  Also, for those students in our earliest grades, their grading scale looks different from a traditional scale; for those of you who made it to open house you may notice the following:

  • P = Above grade level

  • S = On grade level

  • N = Below grade level but making some progress

  • H = Below grade level not making progress or making very limited progress

  • If your child received a grade of H or N in Reading, it most likely means their initial ORR (reading level) is below the grade level average

You most likely have already been informed that conferences will be virtual, by phone or Google Meet, during a combination of times and days between 3:15pm and 7:15pm on Wednesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 8.  If you are receiving this prior to October 8th and you have not yet scheduled a conference with your student’s teacher(s), please reach out to the teacher(s) you would like to conference with.  On both October 7th and 8th we will also have staff manning a Google Meet to be shared on conference days on our school’s website to answer general questions and offer some support in connecting you with our teachers.

While your student’s teacher will be the best resource for understanding how your student earned their grades, we would like to remind you that a large part of not just their grades but also their learning is their attendance.  As a reminder, students should be in live sessions with teachers everyday starting at 9:00am and again at 12:15pm; you can refer to your student’s Google Classroom for a more specific schedule.  Without being in the live sessions, students will be missing their core instruction which includes all the new material/standards being covered.

Finally, we want to briefly remind you of a few miscellaneous things:

  • You can come to any APS building 8:00am to 3:00pm daily to get assistance with a Chromebook

  • Lunches are served daily 10:00am to 12:00pm outside of Case CLC’s Cafeteria/Gymnasium

  • Teachers are available daily from 2:15-3:15 during office hours through their Google Meets/Classroom

  • Stay up-to-date by listening to our weekly all calls and visiting the Case CLC website

  • If you have not replied to the district reopening survey please do so now at AkronSchools.com or by using the QR code on the other letter in this envelope

Thank you
