Students Investigate Ecosystems

An Inquiry Into Ecosystems
Posted on 11/02/2022
Second-grade students visited the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center to explore a pond and forest ecosystem and earn the designation of "Junior Ranger" at the end of their experience. It was an immersive experience that allowed the students an opportunity to investigate nature up close and on their own.
This educational program is designed to support Ohio Learning Standards as well as provide opportunities for individuals to practice observational skills and explore different habitats in a natural setting. Up-close, hands-on experiences are found to increase both understanding of and interest in science concepts as well as increase social-emotional skills in students. Junior Rangers: Ecosystem Explorers! is part of the APS elementary initiative known as Essential Experiences, sponsored by GAR Foundation.
