Please note that there may be a slight delay in the actual installation depending on volunteer availability.
Why do I need smoke alarms?
Smoke alarms provide an early warning of fire and can increase the chances of a safe escape. According to Fire Departments statistics, nearly 75% of deaths in house fires are caused by smoke rather than burns. Children and senior citizens are at greatest risk.
Install smoke alarms on every level of your home.
Test the batteries and the alarms once a month.
Change your batteries twice a year.
Smoke alarms — even “hard wired” alarms only have a10 year life span.
Develop a home escape plan in case of fire. Have at least two exits from every room and designate an outside meeting spot.
Keep matches and lighters away from children. Put them in high places well out of their reach.
Keep anything that can catch fire away from space heaters. Unplug them when not in use.
