Anne T. Case CLC Students & Families,

This letter is included with your student’s report cards. One of these is a traditional report card that you should be used to receiving; the other is to share and report on your student’s progress with our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.  With the IB Report Card you will find a short description of the process and marks included on it.

During an Akron Public Schools Board of Education meeting several weeks ago, the district began the process of preparing to reopen our buildings!  The timeline for reopening Case, and all other APS buildings, to our students is flexible and will rely on a number of factors.  However, the first two steps that are already in process involving our families are a survey available on  https://www.akronschools.com/ the week of January 25, and the start of the district’s Remote Plus program.  The survey will be used by the district to plan, but families will not be held to these responses.  For a definitive decision on what your family wants in terms of your student(s) returning to the buildings the district will release another survey/sign-up in mid-February; you can always stay up to date on what is going on with the district and Case’s plan by visiting APS’s website or Case’s at https://case.akronschools.com/.  Remote Plus is a district initiative to begin to safely bring very small groups of students into the buildings; if your student was identified as a candidate for Remote Plus Ms. Tome or Mr. Doslak initially reached out to you January 25th through January 27th.  We are aware that many families wanted to be included in Remote Plus, but unfortunately, there were very limited spaces in the program available; students were selected by a team that was specific for each grade level and included homeroom teachers, intervention specialists, administration, and instructional coaches using a wide range of data.

While we are very excited and focused on having our students back in the building, we are also appreciative for the continued work all members of the Case CLC family have been doing to help our students succeed.  One thing that we were very thankful for was our successful Reading Night Drive Through on January 13. A team of teachers and staff from Anne T Case were able to give resources, gifts, and dinner to families of 136 of our students that night!  Some of the resources that were passed out that night dealt with tips and tricks for families to help their students grow as readers; to view a slideshow with a voiceover that may help you read with your student(s) please visit https://tinyurl.com/casereading.

Finally, we want to thank everybody again for all their work over the first semester, and we want to remind our families that the best way to stay informed is to regularly visit our website, listen to our all-calls, and read our marquee on Garman Rd.  If you have not been receiving our weekly phone calls on Sundays, please either correct your phone number in HAC or reach out to the building so we can update your information.

Sincerely,

Matthew Doslak Grace Tome
