Case Student Raises $1200 for Food Bank

When it's too cold for lemonade what else can you sell to raise money? Luke Radak decided that hot cocoa bombs would be a great alternative.
This past weekend Luke set up a hot cocoa bomb stand to raise money for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The idea stemmed from a story he read during his iReady diagnostic test this past week. "It was about turning a boring day into a fun one." Luke said. "They started a lemonade stand, but I wanted to do hot chocolate. My mom said hot cocoa bombs would be better." It turns out it was a great idea. Luke raised $1200 to donate to the foodbank, which is equal to 4800 meals. In fact, when asked why he chose the foodbank as the beneficiary, it was the math that swayed him, "For every dollar you raise that equals four meals!" Quite a bargain and quite an amazing kid.
Jen Victor, Case CLC IB Coordinator, said, "This is just another great example of our IB students being involved in their community. Luke saw a need in the community and took action."
