Boo at the Zoo returns at the Akron Zoo
AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo’s popular Halloween event, Boo at the
Zoo, returns after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Event dates are
Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Boo at the
Zoo is presented by Acme Fresh Market.
During Boo at the Zoo, a non-scary event, guests can wear a Halloween costume
and trick-or-treat at 12 treat stations that are decorated throughout the zoo. Various
costume characters, provided by Imaginos Productions, will be available for photo
opportunities from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day.
Anyone of any age is allowed to dress in costume, but adults are prohibited from
covering their face with costume masks or face paint. The Akron Zoo is asking that all
guests who are medically able to wear a COVID face mask in all indoor buildings.
The zoo will also be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project for anyone with
food allergies. Guests can request a Teal Pumpkin treat at each station to receive a non-
food item.  
The Akron Zoo will once again be offering Zoothing Boo at the Akron Zoo on
Saturday, Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m. During this special time, guests with different abilities will
be able to trick-or-treat without loud noises and crowds before the zoo opens for Boo at
the Zoo general admission. Tickets are separate from general admission and a limited
number are available to help control crowd sizes.  
Tickets are available online at akronzoo.org or at the Akron Zoo box office.
Tickets purchased online are available at a discounted rate and online ticket holders will
receive early entrance into the event at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets purchased online are $13 for trick-or-treaters, $10 for non-member
observers and $3 for parking or shuttle fee. Akron Zoo member observers are free, but
require a ticket. Tickets purchased at the Akron Zoo box office are $15 for treaters, $12
for non-member observers, $2 for Akron Zoo member observers and $5 for parking or
shuttle fee. Infants under two years of age who do not wish to trick-or-treat are free,
but require a ticket.
The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Summer hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and $10 for children ages 2-14. Children
under two are free and parking is $3. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. For
