Did you know, the City of Akron partners with the American Red Cross to provide and install free smoke detectors? We also offer free carbon monoxide detectors. When firefighters come out to install them, they will also provide fire prevention education and go through a fire-exit plan making sure there are always two ways out of the house and a meeting place once residents are outside. To get a free smoke alarm please call the American Red Cross Smoke Alarm Hotline at 330-535-2030. If you live in Akron, they can also coordinate getting you a free carbon monoxide detector.
