Weekly Update on Olympics

Did you know that Shaun White fell on his last run in the Olympics forever? The goat, Shaun White, has retired from the Olympics because he has had too many injuries. Figure skating has had a new world record set by Nathen Chen, our United States figure skater. 

In our 2022 Winter Olympics, our athletes have been working hard for more than 11 days! Norway has taken the lead with 28 medals! Germany is following behind with 20 medals! Running up behind is the United States with 19 medals! Those are the top three countries on the stand. The other countries are still doing awesome, but they don’t have nearly as many medals as the USA, Norway, and Germany. There are still more days to come, so who knows who will take the lead.

 Unfortunately Mikaela Shiffren, lost her father! At first, she didn’t want to continue skating, but she overcame that and went to the Olympics. She has been falling a lot because she has been out of focus. She was excited when she completed her first run without falling since her dad passed, even though she got 9th place. 2 female athletes from the USA have been competing for China! They are American, and they live in the USA, but they are representing China in the Olympics. 

We have had many crazy events so far in the 2022 Winter Olympics like, Shaun White retiring, and Nathen Chen getting a world record. There are still many more days to come.
