Force and Motion with Hot Wheels!

By Caleigh Cooper

Have you ever wanted to play with cars during school? Well, my class got to and we learned a lot about force and motion too.  We used what we learned about force and motion to see the speed and how far the car would go. Our teachers thought it would be a fun way to learn and a good way to problem solve.  Everyone got into groups of 4 and picked a spot to build their tracks. Some groups did it inside the classroom, some did it on the stairs, or outside in the hallway. We had limited time so the groups had to work fast.

Our first step was to build the tracks. We used supplies like scissors and tape. When we first started we all realized that the classroom wasn’t the best spot for everyone so people moved outside. When we were done setting up the track, we tested a car to see how fast it would go. After three rounds we tested to see how far it went. Finally it was time to get the yard stick out and measure the length and speed of our tracks. It was really fun, I hope that more students get to experience the fun I had!
